Hi! Within the documentation[1], you note that XQuery Updates are not reflected in the documents. There is an example of how to write queries that use fn:put to do such an update manually. Under the assumption that XQueries and updates are far more frequent than document puts/pulls, wouldn't an 'inversed' technique be favorable? One that updates "dirty" documents upon fetching them rather than updating with each and every query? (Plus, as far as I see, not needing manual fn:puts is more interoperable) Unfortunately, such 'inversion' would not only need an update to the API classes, but also the "core" (as "dirty" documents would need to be flagged). Would that be a reason the current implementation got as it is? Or don't I see some other issue? HPO [1] http://www.inf.uni-konstanz.de/dbis/basex/xquery#update

Hi Ramesh, I've run your code example, using my own 123.xml document, and it works fine in my environment (the XMLDBCollection database instance is eventually removed). Please provide us with even more details if you want us to reproduce the issue. problem with dropDB

Two Questions about BaseX

Hello, I am Denir. Wikipedia.org recently by the Native XML Database description that BaseX, so download and test, I think this is the most convenient for the Native XML Database software! However, there are two questions to ask: 1. In Development Page inside the Examples, "XQJ API Example -> XQJQuery" not like "XML: DB API Examples -> XMLDBQuery" can access to the remote server native XML database, can only access the XML file in Project, is XQJQuery unable to reach it? Is there any way to do so? 2. My operating system is Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, when I use "java-Xmx1024m-jar BaseX.jar" to start the GUI when not display properly, the picture will become this http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/1v51MX1lr01TassYOA6_Ow?feat=directlink , so I do not know what can fix it. I need to connect to BaseX via a java program . Could some one guide me to the java (client and Example ) code. The site contains bindings for C# , php etc . I am a newbie but have worked on Tcp/Ip Using java. Any help would be appreciated .
