Hi, I am hitting the same issue: When I pass set dbpath command on server start, it seems that the server sets the new value, but is partially ignoring it. Logs are created in new directory, however data are stored in default directory (~/BaseXData/). It is causing problems, because I cannot run 2 BaseXServer instances over the same directory. How to replicate: String serverPath = "SOME_PATH"; StringBuffer commands = new StringBuffer(); commands.append("-cset dbpath ").append(serverPath).append(";info"); new BaseXServer("-d", "-D", "-s", commands.toString()); Environment: BaseX 6.7.1 regards, Igor Farinic

Embedded BaseX server exits whole process

Hi, in our junit tests we are starting BaseX server in embedded mode. The problem is that, if there is some problem (e.g. server socket is unable to bind to port), basex server will terminate whole process. When the process is terminated during automatic junit test execution, then maven surefire plugin will report that 0 test were executed and all passed ... and we will never know that there are some problems in our application code :( I am using following command to initialize BaseX server: server = new BaseXServer("-p" + port, "-d", "-D", "-s"); Environment: BaseX 6.7.1 regards, Igor Farinic

BaseX: Support for JSON

Dear all, we've just added a frequently requested feature to the latest snapshot of BaseX: JSON files can now be converted to XML and back to their original representation! The chosen XML representation is supposed to be well readable and easily editable. As there is no lossless, bidirectional conversion available for XML and JSON, we have also added support for the JsonML format, which allows to serialize arbitrary XML documents to JSON and back to XML. Export XML

Hello, I am new to BaseX and have a question regarding the Export XML feature. After doing a keyword search and filtering my results, I would like to export this filtered data into a new XML file. Selecting Export XML, it prompts me to save it to the same .xml file. However the results are not saved. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Marc

BaseX as a web application server -- output option media-type?

Hello, I tried to use basex 6.7.1 as a web application server through the jax-rx API: If you put the following file in the jax-rx directory of basex, then you have a simple web application: [c:\Programme\BaseX\jax-rx\index.html] declare option output:method "xhtml"; declare option output:media-type "text/html"; <html> <head><title>Testserver</title></head> <body> <p><a href="http://127.0.0.1:8984/basex/jax-rx/DBNAME?run=index.html">Testme!< /a></p> </body> </html> (DBNAME is you context for the xquery) Here comes the problem: the declare option output:media-type "text/html"; does not seem to work :-( But if you specify the serialization option directly in the URI: <html> <head><title>Testserver</title></head> <body> <p><a href="http://127.0.0.1:8984/basex/jax-rx/DBNAME?run=index.html&outpu t=media-type=text/html">Testme!</a></p> </body> </html> Then this works and is a very simple example of using BaseX as a web application server. Is it me or basex? Can anybody tell me, why the media-type=text/html output option did not work, when declared in the XQuery? Regards, Sebastian

maven plugin for basex server

Hi, I'm a fan of the Jetty Maven plugin and I was wondering whether anyone had written a BaseX Maven plugin that would allow you to start up the BaseX server from a Maven plugin. The Jetty one works like `mvn jetty:run` or `mvn jetty:run-exploded` ... I could see something like `mvn basex:run` working (where you would configure the BaseX server in the pom.xml). If noone has done this, I'll probably take a stab at it, but I thought I should check to see whether it had already been written before I put any work into it. Thanks! Kevin

(Un)comment lines in BaseX

Hi Derek, thanks for your donation! I'm glad to tell you that we've now added an "(Un)Comment" feature to the text editor of BaseX, and closed the corresponding GitHub issue [1]. Feel free to check out the latest snapshot [2]. As we have a rather minimalistic interface, we haven't added an extra button. Instead, you may use the shortcut "Ctrl + /" to comment and uncomment highlighted texts or lines in XQuery or XML files. One day in future we'll document all the available GUI shortcuts (or hope that someone's interested in extending our Wiki [3]). xsd validation

Hi everyone! I have started using base-x recently and i have a question that it may be naive, but i can't find a solution. In the last version of the db you can use xslt transformation and i have been trying to do the same with xsd validation. I mean, validate xml documents through a xsd validator using Xquery... I have tried for a while but i was not able to find a solution to this problem, even using java utilities. Is there a possible way to validate xml through xsd in base-x?
