Updated XQuery Higher-Order Function Signatures

Dear all, for all of you who are working with XQuery 3.0 higher-order functions, I’d like to point out that the official function signatures will be changed in the upcoming W3 XQuery spec. In particular, this means that your existing code may need to be updated. I have just updated our documentation [1] and the latest stable snapshots [2]; feel free to ask for more, Christian PS: I heard that some of you are waiting for the next release of BaseX? We are working hard to get it finished; it will finally cover all features of XQuery 3.0 and improved support for concurrent read/write operations. Stay tuned.. Easy way to serialize a DB to files?

Is there an easy way to save/export/serialize an entire database to the filesystem? (I don't mean CREATE BACKUP/RESTORE. I mean if you want to get plain XML files for something outside of BaseX.) I have been using this XQuery: let $base := 'some/path/' for $doc in db:open('dbname') let $fn := $base || document-uri($doc) let $dir := file:dir-name($fn) return ( if (not(file:exists($dir))) then file:create-dir($dir) else (), file:write($fn, $doc, map{"method":="xml"}) ) However this uses a large amount of memory so any large database needs to be manually partitioned into multiple XQueries. Hello, i am writing my own webapp with basex and i have a question concerning restxq annotations. Is it possible to write own restxq annotations? Because, there is no way to annotate xquery functions with security options. So, are there any tutorials to write own restxq annotations? regards Florian

Xpath not working but BaseX map view works fine (Issue or beginner question?)

Just importing the following XML fragment into a new database. It is not queriable for some reason. minor issue

Hi guys, A minor issue. The marking of joint parenthesis in the editor of the BaseXGUI doesn't take account of parenthesis within strings. That is parenthesis of statements are joint to parenthesis within strings. This corrupts the marking of parenthesis. Example: the parenthesis marking of: concat( '(' , $var) , doesn't work properly because of the parenthesis-string within the concat-statement. I use the latest BaseX-snapshot Regards, Rob Stapper

Error while storing "<" and "<=" in DB

Hi there, I am trying to save the generated queries in database, to have a Search History. Some of my queries have "where" conditions with < (less than) and <= (less than equal to operators. This is the insert query - for $x in doc('SHIST')/Searches return insert node <SH><Id>0</Id><Date>20130515 14:05:44</Date><Query> for $x in doc('Docs')/Docs/Doc where$x/Title[Desc/@name='IT' and Year >= '2010' and Year <= '2013'] </Query></SH> as last into $x I am getting error "Expecting tag name, '<=' found Any workaround for the same...?? -- Have a nice day JBest

It's easy to deploy BaseX as a web application. I wondered if there is default admin (gui) application like BaseX GUI so I can have similar functionality in the browser. Raymond
