XSLT transformations in BaseX with XSLTforms fails

Hello! I try to transform XForms with XSLTforms with the xslt module in BaseX but fail. I use the examples given by XSLTForms which work in the browser. My xslt:processor() gives 'Java' and xslt:version() gives '1.0'. The error message I get is: *type* Status report *message* _Stopped at /usr/share/tomcat/webapps/BaseX80-20150207.113013/hans.xq, 242/23: [bxerr:BXSL0001] ERROR: 'Could not compile stylesheet' FATAL ERROR: 'Error checking type of the expression 'FilterParentPath(variable-ref(profiler0/result-tree), step("child", 1))'.' :Error checking type of the expression 'FilterParentPath(variable-ref(profiler0/result-tree), step("child", 1))'. Stack Trace: - /usr/share/tomcat/webapps/BaseX80-20150207.113013/hans.xq, 165/10_ *description* _The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect._ My XQuery looks like this: declare %rest:path("hans/xforms") %rest:GET %output:method("text") function hans:xforms() { let $page := <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:xf="http://www.w3.org/2002/xforms" > <head> <title>Many to one</title> <xf:model> ... snip ... </html> return xslt:transform($page, 'static/xsltforms/xsltforms/xsltforms.xsl') }; The only difference between the input given in the function and the one given at http://www.agencexml.com/xsltforms/incremental.xml is the removal of two processing instruments: <?xml-stylesheet href="xsltforms/xsltforms.xsl" type="text/xsl"?> <?xsltforms-options debug="yes"?> What could be the source of this error? Binding Object Through Java

Hi, I am using BaseX 8.0.1 version. I am using basex in in-memory embedded mode. I am running a program in Java. My Query execution is taking almost two second, out of which binding Iter to the QueryExecuter is taking almost a second. If i can reduce the binding time, It would boost performance significantly. What step should i take to reduce the same. let me know, What other details you would like to have from me. Thanks

Handling special characters

Hi, I need to be able write some special characters into output xml file. I have HTTML3 characters like ρ (phase), Δ (delta) in XML. But they are printed into xml file as & expanded as "&" They was being written as &#961; and &#916; But I want ρ and Δ How can I do it? Thanks Erol Akarsu

Comparing NxDs

Hello, I am a happy BaseX user. Currently I am trying to help other teams to find right solution to their data mining from huge xml data store. They are going after postgre and probably even db2. Nor that I have any influence over their decision, but I would like to alert them about something obvious. I just wanted to have some comments from experts here, to give me guidance on what is a major different between these relational DBs supporting native xml storages as compared to BaseX or whatever. I know postgre doesn't support xquery, but db2 does. As you all are aware, our queries won't be complicated probably even xpath might work, just amount of data would be huge. We won't even care hugely about the time taken to return results as long as it's not days. Please advice, - Mansi

Small detail

Hi, Is it possible to add the name of the DB to this message: [XUDY0016] Document can only be replaced once: menu/app-help-wirelessdisplay.xml. We have 1 DB for each of our 32 languages and we batch process. Since all updates are done by baseX at then end, we can't just get the language from a trace in the loop that goes through languages. Invoking database update from RESTXQ

Hello all I was wondering how to perform database updating, like db:add, in RESTXQ, since the adding and updating functions throw errors when invoked inside functions defined in RESTXQ-modules. Have been trying to use the forward mechanism, transferring the data to a script without functions, with no success. Best, Lars G Johnsen

Potential bug thrown in 'out:format' when argument is an empty sequence

Hi all, Executing, out:format("hello %s", ()) throws Potential bug error. It is clear that 'out:format' function expects an argument of type item(), but this error seems scary :) Error: Improper use? Index for multiple dbs

Hi all, here a question for the weekend ... ;-) The following query performs perfectly exploiting the attribute index: for $d in collection("db") where $d//*:item/@id = '2015000000016940' return $d Why does this not? ("db") ! (for $d in collection(.) where $d//*:item/@id = '2015000000016940' return $d ) In our use case we'd like to have a list of dbs to query on and the list can grow over time so we would not like to change the code by replicating the queries every time a db is added.
