tail recursion not happening?

Hello -- Using BaseX 9.6.1 on Linux. So I'm trying to convert a compact-ish element pattern string, delimited with braces, back into something that looks like XML vocabulary for readability. (The pattern strings are being used to detect similar structure in the content set.) The test query (below) works fine. Stick the functions in a module namespace, and run the real content, and I get the "Stack Overflow: Try tail recursion?" error. (Query plan for this case attached.) Nothing in the real data should be all that large. I suspect I'm being too clever for my own good somehow, but if anyone can tell me specifically where I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Passing a map to an external variable

Hello -- I suspect I am being a cabbage somehow, but I'm not figuring this out. If I have a query in the GUI (9.6.1) which declares an external variable: declare variable $targetMap external; and set the value via the GUI $x button to: map {'structure' : '/some/path/name'} It doesn't work. Typing the variable as map(*) doesn't work. declare variable $targets external; declare variable $targetMap as map(*) := xquery:eval($targets); does work, but makes me think I must be doing something wrong. How does one go about binding a literal map to an external variable? (I am going to want to do this in a script later; the GUI version is strictly for testing.) Thanks! Graydon

Problems installing EXPath

I tried installing EXPath, but without success. > REPO INSTALL http://files.basex.org/modules/expath/functx-1.0.xar Stopped at , 1/66: [repo:parse] functx-1.0.xar: Resource "expath-pkg.xml" not found.. Custom map combinator

Dear all, just thinking out loudly ... Whether it could be interesting to specify a function with proper signature as a custom combinator for map:merge. Currently "duplicates" : "combine" results in the entry value being a sequence of the originating values. This could cause loss of information in the case that one of the merged maps does not contain the key. It could be useful to use defaults or placeholders instead ... Maybe even combine the values as strings or numbers .... Too exotic? M.

XQuery output without namespace declaration

Hi all, I am looking for the equivalent instruction of XSLT attribute @omit-xml-declaration in XQuery. EMail module and javax.activation.DataSource

Dear all, I am trying to use a basex Email module http://files.basex.org/modules/org/basex/modules/email/EMail.jar. I downloaded a new basex instance (9.6 version) and added this jar to lib directory. Based on the xquery/email.xq file I created the following file: import module namespace email = 'http://basex.org/modules/email/EMail'; let $mail := <email> <from>myuser@machine-office</from> <to>myuser@machine-office</to> <host>localhost</host> <subject>Hello!</subject> <message>Enjoy</message> </email> return email:send($mail) While running the file I obtain: Stopped at /home/myuser/Downloads/basex/file, 12/13: [XPTY0004] javax.activation.DataSource. Caused by: org.basex.modules.email.EMail:send(element()). What's the problem? Shouldn't I use this module? BR

Running ./basexgui 2 image not found messages (omitting the at messages) Image not found: /img/c_go.png and Image not found: /img/c_editopen.png On Debian (Buster I think).
