It's worth noting that updating indices after a database update is an essential move in the direction of making BaseX suitable for a realtime dynamic database. I hadn't considered it my earlier remarks to Charles Munat, but losing the indices after an update is, by itself, enough to make it unsuitable currently - they are essential to maintain performance.
