Dear Pete,
a database of 3000 * 40K bytes input shouldn't cause any problems for a single database (as long as you don't run heavy updates on the data). It's mostly up to the queries to get enough performance.
Hope this helps, Christian ________________________________

dear list
I have a web-based database (basex 7.5 running on tomcat) in which I have a collection with about 3000 files in various sizes from about 1k to 40k. Would I get better performance by splitting these files across several collections? what are the rules of thumb here?
many thanks
Pete
