Hi Jack,
Constantine has already given you the solution (thanks). If you are looking for a monospace character set, the Java default "Monospaced" font is yet another one you can work with.
Cheers, Christian
Probably down to the default font that the Basex GUI uses, which is Consolas. In the past I’ve simply set the GUI to use a Unicode font like Arial Unicode MS and characters display fine.
Options => fonts
Cheers,
Constantine

Hi (again),
(I have now signed up for the list)
There seems to be a problem with displaying results in which the text has with IPA diacritics.
The problem is only in the display of the data and not the source xml files or even those extracted from the search results in which these display problems are found.
The problem is also not universal, in some cases they display fine, in others there are gaps in the text and characters overlapping.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the results and a small file in which there are such characters diacritics which you can test on.
For the record, I did activate the ‘diacritics’ option in the ‘Full Text’ portion of the menu, and I do have the IPA zip folder in that of the database source files
It’s essential for us to be able to display these characters and strings correctly for our research it would be greatly appreciated if you could give any insight or consider this issue in any future software updates!
Thanks very much!

Jack Bowers
