when the same query is executed on a collection which is on mount point it is taking 18sec's of time.

You’ll probably have to decrease the latency between the BaseX machine and the mount point; otherwise, the only alternatives I see would be to a) add more disks to your BaseX machine, or b) use several BaseX instances. Hope this helps Christian
