Dear Alister,
The tutorial here: http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Database_Server says to use SHOW DATABASES to see which database is currently opened -- I think perhaps it should be SHOW SESSIONS Is that correct?
Thanks for the hint. "show databases" does not exist anymore, it has been removed in an earlier version of BaseX [1]. I have updated our documentation.
