Hi Christian,
I am looking for the basex.app.zip distribution file, that unzips to a Mac OS X app. In the previous release, 7.8, it was available, but it is missing now. Did I miss something, is a native Mac OS X app no longer supplied?
Kind regards,
Huib Verweij.
Hi Huib,
the Mac aficionados that I know prefer to resort to the homebrew deployments on BaseX.
I would really like to reactivate our app.zip distribution, but I have no clue how to make this happen. You are invited to have a look at our build process [1,2]; maybe you have some idea what needs to be done?
Thanks, Christian

OS X application bundles are just folders adhering to some given folder structure and having the extension `.app`. [3] Homebrew only offers the command line executables, Huib is probably looking for the GUI (thus asking for the application bundle).

Hi Christian,
I managed to get a BaseX80-SNAPSHOT.app.zip file! Thanks for the pointers. After some maven, Java and perl troubles I got it working. I had to do "mvn package" in the "basex" repo to build the BaseX software. Then, in the "basex-dist" repo in the file "release.pl" I activated the "app" goal (it was commented out) and I added a "dist" folder inside the "mac" folder. It seems to work so far.
Hartelijke groet,
Huib Verweij

Hi Huib,
thanks for reporting your success story. We actually did the same to create past app.zip versions, but I cannot recollect what problems occurred with that version. Maybe someone else on the list does?
