XQJQuery Example

Hi, I just downloaded BaseX and intend to try running the example code. For XQJQuery.java I am having problem. I get below error. UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file. I am trying to use the BaseX implementation of XQJ API only. I intend to explore the BaseX XML database related features later on.

Our project is developing Open Source procedures and tool/s to automate the gathering of metadata from evidence artefacts collected during digital forensic examinations and visualise the relationships between actors => objects using existing Knowledge Discovery and Social Network Analysis technique. We are currently using BaseX to store the gathered information and have been very impressed by its performance so far. So much so we have posted two videos of it in action on YouTube. Congrats for your efforts and well done product. I've worked with Berkeley dbxml, eXist, and Mark Logic. So I really appreciate the clean api, speed!, and compactness. Keep up the great work! Do you have roadmap somewhere? I'd like to get an idea where you are headed with development and if you could use any assistance. Best, Erik Peterson

[sorry for the previous message, my mistake] Hello Christian, thanks for your very fast reply (in middle of the night...) Indeed the query you gave me runs much faster. But... 1) that's not my query: I was using 'all words', and my query still runs without index. 2) I think that 'text() 'is not equivalent to '.'. For example I could not use text() here //SPEECH[ . contains text "romeo juliet" all words] By the way, this query just doesn't work (while it should return 42 hits). Never mind, I am sure you will fix that soon. Cheers. Database creation error on Windows Vista SP 2 64-bit

Hi there, I recently downloaded and tried to use BaseX 6 on Windows Vista SP 2 64-bit. I'm consistently experiencing an error message whenever I try to create a database (which seems to be necessary even when trying to open a database). I'm using BaseX in GUI mode. I've seen this behavior with both the BaseX6.exe version (initially) and the .jar as packaged in the BaseX6.zip archive (as a second test). BaseX server without X Window System on Linux

My Linux server doesn't have X. When I try to run the BaseX server, with the command: java -Xmx1024m -jar BaseX.jar org.basex.BaseXServer I get the following error: No X11 DISPLAY variable was set, but this program performed an operation which requires it. Can I run the server without X? Steve

bug in namespace resolution after inserts

Hello, I think there might be a bug in namespace resolution after an insert. I have two xml files: doc.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <doc xmlns:a="http://a"> <a:x>1</a:x> </doc> doc2.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <r xmlns="http://b" xmlns:a="http://a"> <a:x>2</a:x> </r> I create database "doc" from "doc.xml". Then, I preform the following insert query: declare namespace a = "http://a"; declare namespace b = "http://b"; insert nodes doc("doc2.xml")/b:r/a:x into basex:db("doc")/doc and the result is: <doc xmlns:a="http://a"> <a:x>1</a:x> <a:x xmlns="http://b">2</a:x> </doc> but basex:db("doc")/doc/a:x returns <a:x xmlns:a="http://a">1</a:x> Cheers, Rares

BaseX 6 GUI does not start properly

Hello, I used BaseX GUI before version 6 successfully. Version 6 GUI does not start properly and throws a lot of exceptions.
