Hi All, The startjaxrx script doesn't add all the necessary jars to the classpath before starting BaseX. Dear Nigel, line and column information is omitted in error messages returned by the server. One solution to get more feedback is to use the BaseX API or the command line of BaseX, or to directly test your query in the BaseX GUI Editor. Your request is a good hint, though; we might add extended server feedback in the next minor release. PHP: How can I get the name of the xquery function where an error occurred?

If I get an error message like this: [XPST0003] Incomplete 'let' expression. How can I find out more information regarding the error eg. the name of the function that failed? The error message doesn't give any clue about where the error occurred. I'm using PHP. Hi all, I was testing the PHP examples on your website ( https://svn.uni-konstanz.de/dbis/basex/trunk/api/etc/php/ ), but I get the following results after executing the QueryExample.php (the query string is: $input = "for $i in 1 to 10 return <xml>Text { $i }</xml>";): This is the output: "instead of 1 commands received." The basex server is running, the access to the server seems to work. I can type the query in the basex-api and it works! Through PHP no query is executed and no results are returned. Can someone help me? Have I overseen something? Should I specify the database (e.g. factbook.xml, and how?)?

Hi, I wonder if the full-text index is also available to attribute nodes: XQuery-Expression: for $i in //*:identifier[contains(@*:value,'nc1n2[C@H]')] return $i Query executed in 4106.57 ms. I also tried: for $i in //*:identifier[@*:value contains text 'nc1n2[C@H]'] return $i Query executed in 22350.34 ms. Adding xml to an embedded database collection

Note: I am working in Scala. I want to be able to create new XML documents based on input from a Web-based form, then add them to a Collection in an embedded instance of BaseX programmatically. So if I have a collection called "Persons" and XML in memory thus: <person id="df802f63-f5b9-4b28-951e-aa2c8d7220dd"> <name>Chas</name> <gender>Male</gender> </person> (or as a String, if that's necessary -- Scala allows inline XML). I want this db stored not in my home directory, but in WEB-INF/db. So how do I use CreateDB(input, name) to create the db where I want it? What do I provide for the input? Must I have an XML file already? What is the relationship between that file and the DB, and how does this differ from a collection? Can anyone point me to a spot in the documentation where this is covered? All I can find are examples and they are confusing to me. Once I have a DB open (and maybe a collection), I want to add an XML document directly from code, thus: val xml = <person><name>Chas</name></person> or maybe val xml = "<person><name>Chas</name></person>" then Add(xml).execute(context) I've tried this but the XML disappears. How do I put this in the correct DB and collection? It seems pretty straightforward to use the console or the GUI, but the documentation on embedded use is pretty sparse. Is anyone else using BaseX in embedded mode? Is there documentation somewhere (or more examples) that I've missed? Thanks. I am thinking about using BaseX for persistence by converting objects to/from XML using XStream: http://xstream.codehaus.org/index.html Should be interesting. TIA, Chas.

Hi Christian, thank you for the response. The error occurs every time I try to import the folder when using version 6.1. Using version 6.1.9 it doesn't throw an error but it just quits. error importing one million documents using console

Hi, I am trying to import one million documents within a directory to basex using the console as described on the faq-page. The command I am using is: java -cp BaseX61.jar org.basex.BaseXClient -vc "create DB /home/tuscreen/cml tuscreen " Immediately after execution the server throws an exception: Exception in thread "Thread-6" java.lang.NullPointerException at org.basex.build.DiskBuilder.close(DiskBuilder.java:102) at org.basex.build.DiskBuilder.abort(DiskBuilder.java:88) at org.basex.core.Progress.abort(Progress.java:98) at org.basex.core.Proc.run(Proc.java:146) at org.basex.core.Proc.exec(Proc.java:109) at org.basex.server.ServerProcess.run(ServerProcess.java:128) When importing a small fraction of the data, everything works fine. Is there any way to import all documents? Thank you Patrick
