I've attached a zip file with a trivial DTD and a eleven copies of a trivial XML file that follows that DTD. If I try to create a db from this content using BaseX77-20130716.145338.zip and try to skip corrupt files (which is what I need to do on the real content; the example doesn't have any) and parse the content against entities and the DTD (something else I need to do on the real content due to a purgatory of fixed attributes), it doesn't work. SKIP INTERNAL DTDs & Collection? CORRUPT PARSER ENTITIES N N N YES Y N N YES N Y N YES Y Y N YES N N Y YES Y N Y NO! Fails! (skips all) N Y Y NO! Fails! "tiny.dtd" (Line 1): No input found Y Y Y NO! Fails as the YNY case, skipping all input files. The attached example zip has the dtd and the files and the error message as well as these results. I'd expect all of these cases to work. Basex collection size

Hi basex, We are creating collections from the xml documents which we have with us,When we create a collection with xml file size of 10MB the collection size is going upto 20MB which is exactly double and some time more than double the size of xml dcuments,is there a way where we can reduce the size of collection. High cpu utilization

Hi Basex, We have written a xquery which runs on a collection containing 600 xml files and the size of collection is 670MB.when we execute the xquery the CPU utilization is going up to 30-40% and as the number of hits that comes for executing this queries at a time will be around 20-40 because of high CPU utilzation for executing one query the processing speed of the remaning queries is getting delayed. Could you please check is some thing wrong in the query or do you have some suggestion which could improve the performance.Please find attachement of query and sample xml file. Dear Basex team, it seems to me that there is a little bug in the FLWOR sort. Code: for $i in 1 to 3 for $j in ('a', 'b', 'c') order by $i descending return concat($i, $j) Expected output: 3a 3b 3c 2a 2b 2c 1a 1b 1c Actual output: 3c 3b 3a 2a 2b 2c 1c 1b 1a Using the latest stable snapshot. "XUDY0027 - Insert target must not be empty" with default namespaces

Hi, I'm working with latests BaseX distribution. The problem arises when I change from a specific namespace to a default namespace on the XML file. >From that moment on the insertion becomes messy, since some of them fail. Example: Here is the source XML that I insert into the newly created DataBase: <n:one xmlns:n="oneone"> <two /> </n:one> I execute then a xquery to insert a node into the empty tag "two": insert node <three/> into db:open("MyDB", "q471pa0lnovkfflso7ecsd6nj1.xml")/*:one/two In that case, I get a successful insertion: If I query the file (db:open("MyDB", "q471pa0lnovkfflso7ecsd6nj1.xml")/*:one) I get: <n:one xmlns:n="oneone"> <two> <three /> </two> </n:one> This is the normal behavior. The problem comes when I try to set that namespace as the default. So I create a new DataBase with the following XML: <one xmlns="oneone"> <two /> </one> When I try to execute the same xquery as before (insert node <three/> into db:open("MyDB", "q471pa0lnovkfflso7ecsd6nj1.xml")/*:one/two) I get the following error: rg.basex.core.BaseXException: Stopped at line 1, column 84: [XUDY0027] Insert target must not be empty I cannot understand then why the namespace affects the insertion this way :-/ I'm querying and insertion from a Java application by using JavaClient, although I guess this is not relevant here. XQuery for Scala

Hi Raj, I am responding to the mailinglist so that maybe other people can benefit from your question as well. This is not a BaseX bug, indeed it returns the correct result. The problem is with your query and the scope of your selection. The variable $i contains the whole document, so basically it does not iterate much. You are then filtering out each document, which does not have a country with the id f0_136. As the whole factbook.xml does have one such element, it is passed on and all the country names are returned. What you instead want to do is to iterate over each country, not over each document. Performance doc vs db

Hi, Looking to compare the performance of BaseX on a number of machines I have been running the Xmark queries [1]. Query 11 seems to be one that causes the most stress. I then compared the performance executing query 11 against an xml file on the filesystem compared with importing it into a database and timing the query against the database: * Running from a database 36sec * Running from a file 9secs The xml was generated using xmlgen /f 0.1 /o test.xml This does not seem right to me.
