A free-form XQuery through RESTXQ?

Hello, my name is Neven Jovanovic, and I have beginner's problems with BaseX RESTXQ interface. We'd like to have a textarea form where users would compose their own XQueries to be executed over our database (just querying it, no updating etc). I have already written a cgi Perl script which does this through BaseX REST interface. Now I'd like to do the same with RESTXQ, but I'm missing something. For testing purposes, we use the .zip version of 7.7.2 release, on Linux Mint Debian (locally), started with .basexhttp. Everything works OK, the db is there etc. Here is the form added to the existing restxq.xqm: <h3>Write an XQuery</h3> <p>Compose your own XQuery.</p> <form method="post" action="compoxq"> <p>XQuery:<br /> <textarea name="query" rows="5" cols="80"></textarea><br/> <input type="submit" /></p> </form> Here is the function added to the restxq.xqm: (:~ : A free-form XQuery. :) declare %rest:path("/compoxq") %rest:POST %rest:form-param("query","{$query}", "(no query)") function page:cpxq-postman( $query as xs:string*) { let $q := $query return element q { collection("crobib")//$q } }; Submitting the following form string: //*:person I get these results at <http://localhost:8984/compoxq>: <q> //*:person //*:person //*:person //*:person //*:person (lots more...) </q> Some query obviously is being performed, but instead of results, I get the query string. Possible bug in BaseX interpreter, might be the introspection module ?

Hello, I have a quite strange behavior, that might be a bug in the introspection module. I am just describing it, and will work a bit to produce a reproductible code if you don't have a quick clue about the problem. I created a map of string to functions, called $common:MapIntrospecting, generated by the introspection module. restxq file upload with no file selected

Hi, In the case where I submit a form with an input type= "file" without selecting a file. The server side map [1] has one entry with empty name and content. It seems to me it would be more useful to return an empty map in this case. Regards /Andy [1] http://docs.basex.org/wiki/RESTXQ#File_Uploads

tiny request

Hi, I've a tiny request. It concerns the inputbar in the BaseX-GUI in query-mode with a opened database. It used to work that after typing a slash ( '/') in the inputbar all the child-elementtypes were shown in a dropdown box. Now this only works for the root (initial slash) but not anymore for under laying elements . For these elements the dropbox is only presented after typing a character. The dropbox then only contains the child-elementtypes that start with this character(s). So I'm not presented with all the child-elementtypes anymore, which is too bad because I used this option for finding my way within the XML-structure. For example: <a> <b> <d1> </d1> <e1> </e1> </b> <c> </c> </a> Inputbar: / gives a dropbox with 'b' and 'c'. That's nice. Inputbar: /b/ gives nothing. I would like to see: 'd1' and 'e1' Inputbar: /b/d gives a dropdown with 'd1'. Could this be fixed? I think it's such a nice little option. Java bindings - ambiguous Signature

Hi, In my ongoing attempts to use various Java libraries, without writing any Java myself, I have trying Apache Tika. (http://tika.apache.org/1.4/api/org/apache/tika/Tika.html) With the tika jar on the classpath I hoped the following would work: import module namespace tika = "java:org.apache.tika.Tika"; declare namespace File="java:java.io.File"; let $file :=File:new("xx.pdf") return tika:parse($file) It generates the error Signature 'org.apache.tika.Tika.parse' is ambiguous Which maybe it is from some perspectives :-). I hoped some type information might be available in the $file variable to resolve this, but it appears not. I was wondering about the possibility of using Java type at the XQuery level e.g. let $file as java:java.io.File :=File:new("xx.pdf") Is there any way to avoid writing the couple of line Java class shim for this and similar cases? Incremental fulltext update?

Hi all I've been experimenting with BaseX - and I'm quite pleased with its capabilities - however I'm hitting a wall where the fulltext index is concerned. Here's the use-case: - Web application analyzing media (news, etc.) on a large scale - Frequent inserts (metadata about news) by many clients (ca. 40+ million documents per year) - Online Full-text search is a must Every time data is inserted into a database the full-text index is invalidated. Because of the online full-text search capability requirement a 2-stage update process (store to temporary database, batch update to main database and optimize full-text index afterwards) is unfortunately not an option. Are there plans to provide for incremental full-text update capacity or is this not an option? Thanks for any feedback and kind regards Florent

bug in QueryCollection.java example

Hi there I tried out the QueryCollection example from github and discovered there is a bug in line 47 ``` for $doc in collection() ``` causes [FODC0002] No default collection available. I think it should be ``` for $doc in collection("Collection") ``` then the error is gone.

Hello, I am trying to add dates and duration through BaseX, in conformance with http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath-functions-30/#func-add-dayTimeDuration-to-date. However, BaseX interpreter does not recognize the function add-dayTimeDuration-to-date, nor op:add-dayTimeDuration-to-date. Did I misunderstood something ? Thanx for your answer, Cheers, Jean-Marc

Urgent Help, concurrently update db cause db error, how???

Hi,all, I have a restxq web service to do insert or update xml doc , which is called by many clients to provide xml data to db, there will be 500000 files to provide to basex server. I have found some problem few times : 1) often, after insert tens of thousands xml file, the db "list" will cause error,cause db corrupt, I don't know why, How, please help me.
