USER option and WebDAV?

The documentation [1] says: The WebDAV service uses the database user credentials in order to perform authentication and authorization. If database user and password are explicitly specified when starting the BaseX HTTP Server using the corresponding startup options, WebDAV will not request additional user authentication from the client. [1] http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Webdav I take this to mean that if I start basexhttp from a directory my-app, with a .basex file containing, among other things, USER = myappuser PASSWORD = lips_are_sealed then when the client issues a PUT request against a URI of the form http://localhost:8984/webdav/my_app_dir/mydoc34.xml the PUT will be accepted and mydoc34.xml will be added to the database or updated there, depending on whether myappuser has WRITE privileges to the database my_app_dir. I also take it to be saying that the WebDAV server will not ask the client for credentials. (This last is important to me because it appears that in some Web browsers an XForms submission that requires credentials will cause the browser to ask the user for userid and password, and in other browsers the submission will fail silently. If I can just have BaseX use the application-specific user quietly, that will work fine for this particular application.) However, what I'm seeing suggests that WebDAV is not using the userid specified in the .basex configuration file -- in my tests, one browser is prompting me for credentials and another is failing silently. I suppose that what I'm seeing may be consistent with an error in the password in the .basex file, but I have tried it with passwords that are hard to mistype, so I don't think that that's it. I have not found a command to ask the server what user I currently am (the equivalent of whoami). Are WebDAV authorization failures returning 200? Or is the BaseX log being optimistic?

I'm a little puzzled. As other mail (just sent) describes, I'm having some trouble getting PUT requests to work in some browsers; as far as I can tell, the current cause is that WebDAV is requesting credentials for the PUT, and the browser is not asking the user for the credentials. However, when a PUT request fails for lack of credentials, or for wrong credentials, I would expect the request to return an HTTP 401. Instead, the BaseX log seems to show 200 requests, both for the initial request from the client without credentials, and for the second request, whether the second request was made with correct credentials (and succeeded) or with bad credentials (and failed). Is the WebDAV service really returning a 200, or are the logs inaccurate? -- **************************************************************** * C. M. Iter.get() giving null

Hi, I am trying to execute a query in java and trying to fetch the result set using Iter Object. But Iterating through the result set return "null", but when i am executing the same query and getting Result object i am able to see the result set. Why this is happen. Please Help Me. QueryProcessor pr = new QueryProcessor("let $a := /data/product/* return $a ",context); pr.context(dataset); Now I am taking Iter object as: Iter itr=pr.iter(); Now, executing itr.get(0) gives me "null", but when i execute it as Result rs = pr.execute() Sytem.out.println("Products ::" + rs) ... it shows the fetch products. But, also itr.next().serialise() also gives me the result.

Main Memory Allocation For Fetch Data In BaseX

Hi, We have requirement to group elements on specific criteria. We are grouping by creating a new XML and grouping similar elements by creating a new element under which we are putting the similar elements. I just wanted to know whether all fetched element resides in Main Memory or some kind of reference is stored in basex which later retrieve the elements form XML database. Suppose we have in some element in database. We are firing queries in database and grouping by append some new element. let $a := /data/product[@category = "abc"] let $b := /data/product[@category = "bcd"] let $c := <product><abc>{$b}</abc><bcd>$b</bcd></product> My question is, Will $c hold all the xml data in main memory or will it contains reference to $a , $b which points to the data in database ?. duplicate keys, because of missing commit

Hallo, the following xquery results in duplicate keys or missed updates, if we get two messages of the same person in one xml-document. All updates in the database are done at the end of the xquery and the reading inbetween gets the old state of the database. Is there a command to persist the actual state (like commit in sql)? If not, i need some help for my design, because i have no idea, how to get a stable processing. Startup scrips for RHEL/Centos/Fedora?

xslt:transform and white-space pb

Hi all, I'm using baseX 7.9 with GUI My query declares an chop option set to "no" ("declare option db:chop 'no';") and uses "return xslt:transform($in, $style)". But after running it, all the white-spaces in the xslt rules are chopped. for example the space in "<xsl:text> </xsl:text>" of a named template is not in the resulting html file. What can I do to solve the pb ? pyBaseX: Python client for BaseX REST interface

Hi everyone, I'm Luca and I work as a researcher and software developer at CRS4, a research center in Italy. I started using BaseX in one of the projects I'm involved (project's name is pyEHR, an openEHR based clinical data management framework https://github.com/crs4/pyEHR) this framework is written in Python and I needed a client for BaseX. In the beginning, I used the official Python libraries recommended on the wiki, but I recently started to develop a new library that can be used to interact with BaseX's REST interface. The library can be found on GitHub https://github.com/lucalianas/pyBaseX and can be downloaded using pip, it is still a work in progress and it still misses some features and a proper documentation (right now unittests are the only "documentation" that can be used to understand how the library works, sorry).
