persistent id values?

Hi! I'm loading a document with doc() and doing a bunch of stuff to regenerate id attribute values; I'm using generated ids (from generate-id()) as map keys so I can generate the local, this-element id component and then put them all together from the list of ancestor ids. That works. What doesn't work is trying to use those ids to identify the element which should get this newly constructed id value; calling generate-id() again on the same document doesn't give the same answers. (which is to be expected, at least as I understand how generate-id() is defined.) I have this vague memory that there's a BaseX function that will produce a stable id, but can't remember what it is called. (Or if it will work when I get the document with doc().) Is there such a thing, and if so, what module should I be looking in? Thanks! Graydon

Good morning, I came across some unexpected behaviour when using a function as a default functionparameter: declare function local:test ( $exec as function(*)? := fn( $a, $b) { $a => trace("test1: ") } ) { $exec( "a", "b") } ; local:test(()) I would expect a trace- and a execution result, but I got nothing. aligning sequences of text?

Hello! If I have two (fairly long) sequences of text, ('The', 'words', 'are', 'sequence', 'members') and I want all the index numbers of matching pairs despite the sequences only mostly matching (so a word, or several words, can be missing from sequence A or sequence B), is there an established algorithm for doing this? (If I search on "aligning sequences" I get bioinformatics about gene sequences; if I search on "aligning text" I get typography.) Thanks! Graydon

Bug where sorting arrays causes a type error?

Hi BaseX team, I have the following simple query: let $strings := ('a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'f', 'g', 'h', 'i', 'j') let $arrays as array(*)* := (array{1 to 2}, array{3 to 6}, array{7 to 9}) let $arrays := sort($arrays, (), fn($seq){array:size($seq) * -1}) let $largest := $arrays => head() return for $idx in $largest?* return $strings[$idx] When I execute it with BaseX 12.2 I get the following suprising error: [XPTY0004] One item expected, 4 found: (3 to 6). Much more suprising is that if I wrap the $arrays?* into a trace call it works: let $strings := ('a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'f', 'g', 'h', 'i', 'j') let $arrays as array(*)* := (array{1 to 2}, array{3 to 6}, array{7 to 9}) let $arrays := sort($arrays, (), fn($seq){array:size($seq) * -1}) let $largest := $arrays => head() return for $idx in *trace($largest?*)* return $strings[$idx] Result: c d e f The root cause seems to be the sort function. Because if I remove that line it works without the trace. BaseX-12.1: HTML 5.0 serialization difference

Hi, I've noticed a serialization difference since updating to BaseX-12.1, and am wondering if this is intentional or not. job:execute with unit:test stalls

Hi BaseX team, The new job:execute function in BaseX 12 is incredibly useful. Using job:execute, it's now possible to have a query that fetches data, dynamically computes the names of databases, creates the databases, populates the databases, and then reads from the same databases, all contained in one query or module!!! This can greatly simplify processes that previously required multiple steps. I'm running into trouble when trying to use %unit:test to test code that uses job:execute. Running the test causes a deadlock, even though the code works correctly when run on its own. Here is a small example based on the example in the documentation https://docs.basex.org/main/Job_Functions#job:execute This query produces "true" when run in BaseX GUI. job:execute('db:create("test")'), job:execute('db:put-value("test", 1 to 10, "numbers")'), job:execute('db:get-value("test", "numbers")') = (1 to 10) After adding %unit:test and unit:assert, when this test is run in BaseX GUI it stalls (until I click Stop to interrupt the process). module namespace t = "test"; declare %unit:test function t:test01 () { job:execute('db:create("test")'), job:execute('db:put-value("test", 1 to 10, "numbers")'), unit:assert(job:execute('db:get-value("test", "numbers")') = (1 to 10)) }; Should this work, or am I missing something? The documentation mentions to be careful to avoid deadlocks with updating queries. I've also found that a deadlock can occur when the main query uses fn:doc even if unrelated to job:execute, but this can be solved by wrapping fn:doc in job:execute. C++ Client, Access to port 1984 denied after crash

Hi, When using localhome, my libBasexTest executes this test without problems: cout << "\n4 Add content from a directory" << endl; string path; path.append(filesystem::read_symlink(exe_path).parent_path()).append("/src/extdata/xml_files"); for (const auto & entry : filesystem::directory_iterator(path)) { Session.Add("Add_XML_3", entry.path()); }; And 12 xml-files are added. But when I connect to a remote linux-based basexserver, I have to add: int limit = 11; int count = 0; for (const auto & entry : filesystem::directory_iterator(path)) { if (count > limit) break; Session.Add("Add_XML_3", entry.path()); count++; }; Without the 'if (count > limit) break;' libBasexTest crashes. And without test \n4 there are no errors. Strange... This is not the biggest problem. After crashing, on the remote server access to port 1984 is denied. I can't restart basexhttp nor basexserver. Both commands abort with the message that access to port 1984 is denied. Deleting the basex-tree and rebooting the remote machine is the only way to restart one off both services. What is the best way to resore connection to port 1984? Ben PS. After starting basexhttp - without a trailing & - I don't return to the prompt. Difficult for me to understand

Hi Christian and all, I'm experiencing a weird issue with a RestXQ service of mine which was working and suddenly starts having problems because it just stops serving requests. I know about SSCE and so on but this time it's hard to reproduce. Shortly, it receives about 5 simultaneous requests and for each of those it calls one xquery:fork-join (5 functions) to query another service. I cannot say what the error is exactly during the time when it is stuck. What I can see on the client are, besides HTTP 503 and Read Timeouts, the following logs which appear frequently but with no particular order: ERROR: Unexpected error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "org.basex.util.hash.WeakTokenSet$WeakTokenRef.get()" because "this.keys[index]" is null (hint: /...y/webapp/nubisware.muscle.fiber.ccp_admin/ccp_worker_sk.xqm@65:33) ERROR: Unexpected error: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException (hint: /.../webapp/nubisware.muscle.fiber.ccp_admin/ccp_worker_sk.xqm@65:33) ERROR: Unexpected error: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Index 8 out of bounds for length 8 (hint: /.../webapp/nubisware.muscle.fiber.ccp_admin/ccp_worker_sk.xqm@65:33) Line and column numbers point always to the same xquery:fork-join call. Can you point me to what I should investigate? Am I hitting some quantitative limit on concurrency? Connections?
