I have a database set up with documents in it and I am attempting to access that through a servlet so I can query the database from a request. However, all I am getting back from the API is the query itself and not the actual results of the query. The stripped down code is below: String query_str = "declare variable $regex as xs:string external; <results>for $x in //entry where $x//*[fn:matches(.,$regex)] order by fn:replace($x, '^(\\d+|\\?|\\s+|\\*|-)+','') return $x</results>"; ClientSession session = new ClientSession("localhost", 1984, "edil", "********"); session.execute(new Open("edil")); ClientQuery query = session.query(this.query_str); query.bind("regex", search); String results = query.execute(); query.close(); session.close(); The "results" string is the query_str with no binding (just the variable). Have I done someting wrong here? Dynamic Module Loading

Hello, Exist-db has an util:import-module<http://exist-db.org/exist/apps/fundocs/view.html?uri=http://exist-db.org/xq…>function that allows to dynamically import an XQuery module at run time. I haven't found anything equivalent in BaseX. Is that right ? I have also tried to see how to implement such a function directly in Java, but as far as I understand the module parsing process, functions prefix are checked at compile time. That would compromise any attempt to write such a function. Am I right ? -i command line option

Am trying to run BaseX form the command shell to execute a xquery on a specific database. I'm however a bit confused by the -i command line option. If I start BaseX as follows: java -Xmx512m -cp "/Users/pascal/git/dwb/lib/BaseX77.jar" -Dorg.basex.DBPATH=../BaseXdata org.basex.BaseX -*ifoo* which is expected to open the foo database, and from the prompt try to run: > xquery count(*) This returns a count of 0 However, if I type > info database I get the proper output about the current database (vs "No database opened" if none was selected). If I then > open foo and > xquery count(*) I get the proper count of documents Why do I have to count open again is the database is already 'opened' Likewise these return a count of 0 java -Xmx512m -cp "/Users/pascal/git/dwb/lib/BaseX77.jar" -Dorg.basex.DBPATH=../BaseXdata org.basex.BaseX -*ifoo*"count(*)" or java -Xmx512m -cp "/Users/pascal/git/dwb/lib/BaseX77.jar" -Dorg.basex.DBPATH=../BaseXdata org.basex.BaseX -*ifoo*countscript.bx though I would expect foo to be opened and ready for querying. Any suggestion would be appreciated. best *P

show databases command in Getting Started Guide

Hi, I’m new to BaseX - moving over from another XML database. The tutorial here: http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Database_Server says to use SHOW DATABASES to see which database is currently opened — I think perhaps it should be SHOW SESSIONS Is that correct? Regards, Alister Pillow

xquery question on copy and update

Hi Everyone, Still in my quest to make angularjs and basex work without other serverside solutions. I'm trying to copy a node and to update an attribute before adding it to the db. slow response time over large update query

Hello, We try to insert/replace a record (size of ~500KB) in a file of 100MB. The query requires more than 10minutes in order to completed. Could you please tell if the previous is normal? Regards Yannis

mixupdates first experiments

Hi all, we are rather interested in experimenting with the new facility provided with the latest snapshot mixupdates. I have a question related to the scope of the mixupdates option. For us (using the GUI) neither declaring the option at module level with declare option db:mixupdates 'true'; nor inlining it with a pragma as in declare function local:sample() { (# db:mixupdates 'true' #){ let $d := <a><b></b></a> return (replace node $d/b with <d/>, "Success") } }; prevent the compiler from complaining with: "... all expressions must be updating or return an empty sequence". Instead it works neatly when the option is set in the .basex file. Is setting the option globally for the whole basex instance the only way to enable the compiler for mixed updates? Regards, Marco.

Rest Access from javascript using AngularJs

Hi, After xmlprague and my presentation at the BaseX user group I was told (and I agree) that it wasn't really smart to use php for what I was building as it had almost no added value as I could directly query basex using the Rest Interface. Does anyone as some example using either angularjs or jquery ? I think I'm struggling with the login.
