Dear colleagues, Please consider submitting your work for the DGOF Best Paper Award 2023. Best regards, Florian Keusch ************ Call for submissions for the DGOF Best Paper Award 2023 The German Society for Online Research (DGOF) annually recognizes outstanding scientific contributions in online research through the DGOF Best Paper Award for a researcher or group of researchers. The DGOF by-laws define “online research” as any type of research about computers or other devices that are connected by a network, in particular the Internet. Online research includes online based data collection (e.g., web surveys in online panels), mobile research with smartphones, tablets, and wearables, and the collection and analysis of social media data, administrative data, data from passive measurements, and other Big Data sources. The prize will be awarded to a paper that provides a fundamental scientific contribution to the advancement of the methods of online research. Topics that are suitable for the award can be found in the program of the annual General Online Research (GOR)<http://www.gor.de/> conference. Both theoretical/conceptual and empirical/methodological papers are considered for the award. Papers that do not focus on online research but, for example, merely use online data collection (e.g., through a web survey) to answer a substantive research question will not be considered. The award is worth Euro 500 and will be presented at the annual GOR conference. An abstract (and, if available, a preprint) of the award-winning paper will be posted to the DGOF website<http://www.dgof.de/>. To be considered for the award, papers must be published in an outlet that uses a peer-review process (e.g., peer-reviewed journal, full papers in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, refereed book chapter) at the time of submission. Papers written in German or English and published not earlier than 2022 (if the paper was published online-first, then the online-first publication date counts) can be submitted for the DGOF Best Paper Award 2023. Dear colleagues, As you know, the 10th Conference of the European Survey Research Association will take place on 17th-21st July 2023 in Milan, Italy. The scientific committee is now inviting researchers who are active in the field of survey research, survey methodology and data analysis to submit proposals for individual paper and poster presentations. Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen, Sozio-demographische Variablen sind nur selten direkt über Studien hinweg vergleichbar. Dies schränkt die Interoperabilität – eines der FAIR-Prinzipien (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) – und somit die Nachnutzbarkeit der Daten ein. Das KonsortSWD-Teilprojekt „Facilitating the combination of research data through standardised and harmonised variables“ hat zum Ziel, Ressourcen zu erarbeiten, um diese Situation für Forschende zu verbessern. Auf Grundlage eines Reviews<https://zenodo.org/record/6810973#.Y0_4MYTP2Uk> zur Erhebung sozio-demographischer Merkmale in großen deutschen Umfragen und mehrerer KonsortSWD-Roundtables 2021 und 2022 haben wir für ausgewählte sozio-demographische Merkmale aus den Bereichen Arbeitsmarkt und ökonomische Lage, kulturelle und ethnische Herkunft, Haushalt und Familie sowie für das Merkmal Bildung Vorschläge für Standardvariablen entwickelt und teilweise validiert. Your research interest lies in these fields, and you are lacking empirical data? We invite you to submit your research to the GESIS Panel to conduct a population survey in Germany free of charge. The GESIS Panel offers researchers the opportunity to collect longitudinal and cross-sectional data in a mixed-mode (online and postal mail) panel. We offer high data quality through intensive panel management. The probabilistic sample consists of about 5,000 respondents who are interviewed every three months on a wide variety of topics.
