Die Leibniz-Institute GESIS, DIPF und ZPID kooperieren: Jetzt noch leichter kostenfreie Erhebungsinstrumente für nicht-kommerzielle Zwecke finden

Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen, erfolgreiche empirische Forschung in den Sozial- und Verhaltenswissenschaften benötigt geeignete Erhebungsinstrumente zur Erfassung individueller Merkmale (z.B. Persönlichkeit, Einstellungen, Verhalten). Solche Erhebungsinstrumente sind jedoch oft verstreut und schlecht zu finden. Die drei Leibniz-Institute, das GESIS - Leibniz-Institut für Sozialwissenschaften, das DIPF - Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsforschung und Bildungsinformation, und das ZPID - Leibniz-Institut für Psychologie bieten mit ihren Repositorien ZIS (GESIS), Open Test Archive (ZPID) und FDZ Bildung (DIPF) die Recherche von Erhebungsinstrumenten aus ihrem Fachbereich zur kostenfreien Nutzung für nichtkommerzielle Zwecke an. Neu ist jetzt, dass in den drei Repositorien eine Erweiterung der Recherche in den Datenbanken der jeweiligen anderen Repositorien möglich ist. Damit wird eine komfortable Recherche über die gesamte Bandbreite sozial- und bildungswissenschaftlicher Erhebungsinstrumente möglich. Der kostenfreie Open-Access-Service ZIS<http://www.zis.gesis.org/> von GESIS stellt validierte Erhebungsinstrumente für die Forschung zu verschiedenen Themen (z.B. Arbeit, Politik, Gesundheit) für Forschende in den Sozial- und Verhaltenswissenschaften bereit. Dabei sind vorwiegend ökonomische Instrumente, die sich für die Umfrageforschung eignen, dokumentiert. Im FDZ Bildung<https://www.fdz-bildung.de/zugang-erhebungsinstrumente> am DIPF werden Instrumente der Bildungsforschung aus abgeschlossenen Forschungsprojekten dokumentiert und für die wissenschaftliche Gemeinschaft zur kostenfreien Nachnutzung bereitgestellt. Das Open Test Archive des ZPID<https://www.testarchiv.eu/> umfasst vorwiegend Paper-Pencil-Verfahren, die im Rahmen einer Forschungsarbeit entwickelt wurden. Sie dienen der kostenfreien Nutzung im Bereich der Forschung, Lehre und Praxis. Die Instrumente in ZIS, FDZ Bildung und Open Test Archive haben einen eigenen DOI und sind dadurch dauerhaft auffindbar und zitierbar. Call for papers: POQ special issue on augmenting surveys

*apologies for cross-posting* Call for Submissions: Special Issue of Public Opinion Quarterly Augmenting Surveys with Paradata, Administrative Data, and Contextual Data Guest Editors: Joseph W. Sakshaug and Bella Struminskaya Augmenting traditional survey data with other data sources can enable researchers to better describe society, test hypotheses, and assess research methods. Three of the main data sources that can enhance surveys are paradata, administrative data, and contextual data. Paradata refers to process data that is collected during survey fieldwork but is not the direct result of respondents chosen answers to survey questions. This includes timestamp data (response latency), call record data, interviewer observations (e.g., of the built environment, assessments of the respondents’ interest), etc. Administrative data refers to the linking of externally created data to individual respondent records by matching on personal information (often with the consent of the respondent). Social surveys may link to tax, insurance or other government data sets, health surveys can link to insurance claim data, political surveys can link to state voter registration records, etc. Contextual data are external sources of information that measure aspects of the respondent’s physical, social or information environment. This can include aggregate data on the demographic composition of a respondent’s neighborhood or organizational characteristics of respondents’ place of employment or place of worship. It can also include data about respondents’ behavior and environment from wearables, sensors, apps, and digital traces from social media or web browsing. This special issue of POQ will highlight innovative and important scholarship using one or more of these survey enhancements. We welcome papers that use augmented data to answer important substantive questions, papers that address ethical considerations, and papers that focus on methodological challenges faced by producers and users of such data. Submissions to the special issue are welcomed between November 1st, 2021 and March 15th, 2022. Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed in accordance with standard journal practice and will be published online soon after acceptance. The issue is scheduled for publication in early 2023. Manuscripts should be uploaded at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/poq, following the manuscript preparation instructions provided on the journal’s website. *Call for Submissions* *Special Issue: Recent Advances in Data Integration* *Guest Editors*: Joseph W. Sakshaug and Rebecca C. Steorts The *Journal for Survey Statistics and Methodology* seeks submissions for a special issue on "Recent Advances in Data Integration." The availability of both structured and unstructured databases, such as electronic health data, social media data, patent databases, and surveys that are often updated in real time, among others, has grown rapidly over the past decade. With this expansion in data, the statistical and methodological questions around data integration, or rather merging multiple data sources, has also grown. This special issue highlights innovative approaches in data integration and related topics. Growth in data integration has led to the creation and innovation of linking records at the micro-level, small area models using multiple data sources, blending probability and nonprobability sources, and in many other areas. In addition, this area of research has led to creation and innovation of end-to-end procedures and products --- from study conceptualization to estimation --- that have been applied on real data sources. Specifically, combining multiple data sources includes record linkage tasks that are deterministic or stochastic. It also includes combining data that have harmonized features/variables. In addition, the data can either be at the individual level or at an aggregate level. For example, entity resolution (or record linkage, de-duplication, data linkage, statistical matching) has become widely used in survey statistics and methodology. Furthermore, recent work has been done on harmonization and estimation when combining multiple data sources. As combining data sources becomes more prevalent, record linkage/entity resolution, in particular, continues to pose privacy and ethical challenges. Obtaining informed consent from units for access to and linkage of their data from non-survey sources continues to be challenging. Additional risks related to disclosing the identities of linked units in anonymized data sources also arise. Further, missing data problems are inherent in blended, combined, and linked data, necessitating tools to overcome information loss and potential bias. This special issue invites standard research articles and brief research notes for both the statistics and the survey methods sections of the journal. Topics include but are not limited to: - Developments in new statistical models and methods for combining, linking, or blending multiple data sources - Linking multiple structured and/or unstructured data sources - Novel applications, case studies, and/or methodology that merge more than two data sources - Innovative methods of obtaining informed linkage consent and reducing non-consent bias - Evaluation of data collection and survey processing methods needed to facilitate combining, linking or blending multiple data sources - Development of quality indicators for blended, combined, or linked data sources - Practical approaches that preserve the privacy and confidentiality of blended, combined, or linked data - Sharing or linking data across multiple agencies with data sharing restrictions Submissions to the special issue are welcomed between October 15th, 2021 and March 31st, 2022. Upon submission manuscripts will be peer-reviewed in accordance with standard journal practice and will be published online soon after acceptance.
