Call for papers for a Special Issue of methods, data, analyses (mda) on the
topic of
Recent Developments and Current Approaches to the Analysis of Panel Data
We kindly invite interested researchers to contribute to a special issue of
the open-access journal methods, data, analyses (mda) with proposals for
papers on the topic of Recent Developments and Current Approaches to the
Analysis of Panel Data. We welcome papers on panel regression-related topics
that highlight recent developments and/or current approaches. This includes
both papers with a statistical or methodological focus (ideally with
empirical examples) as well as innovative panel data applications. We
furthermore encourage papers that bridge the gap between the fields of
Econometrics, Psychology and Sociology. Some suggested topics may include:
* dealing with violations of the parallel trends assumption and
heterogeneous growth,
* comparisons of different statistical approaches for panel data
analysis,
* mediation analysis based on panel data,
* estimation of treatment effect dynamics and dealing with negative
weighting bias
* the challenges of dynamic panel models and the inclusion of lagged
dependent variables,
* approaches to analyze bidirectional effects,
* missing value treatment in panel analysis.
Accepted papers will be published in a special issue of mda scheduled for
October 2022.
Proposal guidelines:
Proposals for papers should be in the form of a brief abstract (ca. 250-500
words). Each proposal will be reviewed by the guest editors of the special
issue with regards to quality and relevance to the call. Authors will be
notified after the initial screening process whether their proposal has been
accepted, in which case we invite the authors to submit a full draft of the
manuscript.
Timetable:
* Deadline for proposals: Proposals for papers must be submitted by
30th September 2021
* Acceptance of proposals: Accepted proposals will be given notice in
October 2021
* Deadline for submission of papers: Deadline for submission of papers
is 28th February 2022
* Results of review process: Submitted papers will be reviewed and
authors will be given notice of whether the paper has been conditionally
accepted for publication by March 2022
* Resubmission of revised papers: Authors must resubmit revised
manuscripts by May 2022
* Final decision on manuscript: Authors will be given notice on the
final decision regarding their revised submission by June 2022
* Online first publication: July-September 2022
* Publication: The special issue will be published in October 2022.
Submission guidelines:
Papers should be no more than ca. 8,000 words in length and should be
prepared in accordance with the guidelines for submissions to mda (
<https://mda.gesis.org/index.php/mda/about/submissions#authorGuidelines>
https://mda.gesis.org/index.php/mda/about/submissions#authorGuidelines).
Submissions, along with any questions or concerns, should be submitted to
